Bio

I’m a writer and photographer as well as the author of the Lonely Planet Kenya guidebook (and numerous other Africa titles for Lonely Planet). I have written, and photographed, many magazine features on Kenya based mainly around conservation and the environment. These stories have been for media organisations as diverse as the BBC, in-flight magazines, broadsheet, internationally-known newspapers and wildlife magazines.

For as long as I remember I have been fascinated by Africa, its wildlife, landscapes and peoples. I first travelled to the continent in my teens and have since returned many, many times for both pleasure and work. Kenya was the first African country I visited, back in 1994, but since then I have been too every region and over half of the countries in this continent. I have walked, camped and stayed with locals in many different areas of Africa.
